(Rye, NY) – One of the candidates for City Council in Rye, New York is choosing to meet ethical standards that are higher than requirements the law sets.
Lisa Tannenbaum is actively disclosing all of her campaign finances, which goes beyond what New York State election law requires. Tannenbaum also achieved the goal of raising donations from a significantly higher proportion of homes in her district than politicians usually do.
Meeting this higher standard has earned Tannenbaum the endorsement of Trailblazers PAC, the national, nonpartisan organization supporting candidates for county or municipal level office who take proven action for honest government.
“With their non-partisan approach and focus on community engagement, Trailblazers PAC is making a real difference in local government,” said Lisa Tannenbaum, candidate for Rye City Council in the November 2, 2021 election. “I’m thrilled to have their endorsement, which recognizes my focus on voter outreach and bringing collaboration and cooperation to Rye City government.”
Trailblazers PAC focuses exclusively on candidates running for office at the local (not state or federal) level, works with candidates of any political party, and will endorse on both sides of a given race if each candidate achieves the criteria. Candidates must also stand for honest government which upholds the U.S. Constitution and respects the dignity of all people.
“Trailblazers PAC is honored to recognize Lisa’s achievement in meeting a level of disclosure and voter engagement that goes above and beyond legal requirements,” said Linda Hoffmann, Trailblazers PAC Executive Board member and the organization’s mentor to Tannenbaum. “By doing this, Lisa shows her commitment to putting the interests of Rye’s residents first, no matter their party.”
Unlike most political organizations, Trailblazers PAC places candidates who apply into an intensive mentorship and training program. With approximately 250 candidates across the country in mentorship over the years, about a quarter have achieved endorsement, earning the title, “Trailblazer.” Even mentored candidates who do not get all the way to endorsement emerge as leaders committed to honest government, with strength to run winning campaigns.
Now in its fifth year, Trailblazers PAC has reached millions of voters by mentoring county and municipal-level candidates in eighteen states across the country. The organization only endorses and donates to candidates running in contested elections, and since 2017, over 65% of these candidates have won their elections.
