(EAGLE PASS, TX) – Trailblazers PAC, the national, nonpartisan organization supporting candidates for county or municipal level office who stand for honest government, announced its endorsement of Elias Diaz for Eagle Pass, TX City Council Place 2 in the special run-off election set for September 5, 2020. This is Trailblazer PAC’s first endorsement in Texas.
To earn Trailblazers PAC’s endorsement, candidates for county or municipal level office must disclose every penny in and out of their campaigns, make themselves accountable to their own voters by raising funds from households within their district instead of just from outside interests, and stand up for honest government through Election Day and beyond.
“Our communities deserve leaders that will work for all of us, not just a select few. The first step in that process is to be a candidate that can run a campaign powered and funded by the voters and to be fully honest about how we are being funded,” said Elias Diaz, candidate for Eagle Pass City Council.
“Elias exemplifies what it means to be a Trailblazer. He is taking a stand against dark money and corruption in his community,” said Alli Woodard, Executive Director of Trailblazers PAC. “He knows that voters regain their rightful role in our democratic republic when we know who funds our officeholders. Elias is setting a precedent in his community for honesty in government and we’re proud to support him.”
Now in its fourth year, Trailblazers PAC has reached millions of voters across the country by mentoring municipal-level candidates in Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. The organization only endorses and donates to candidates running in contested elections, and since 2017, over 65% of these candidates have won their elections.
