Trailblazers PAC Endorses Celeste Friend for Utica Common Council Ward 3

(UTICA, NY) – Trailblazers PAC, the national, nonpartisan organization supporting candidates for local-level office who stand for clean government, announced its endorsement of Celeste Friend for Utica Common Councilperson (Ward 3) in the general election set for November 5, 2019. At the invitation of the Celeste Friend campaign, Trailblazers PAC joined Celeste at her home in Utica on August 22, 2019, at a previously-scheduled event and presented the endorsement.

With a mission of “Front Porch Politics,” Trailblazers PAC changes the game by challenging leaders of any party to act better than broken campaign finance laws require. Across the country, Trailblazers are building communities that demand and expect honest government. These Trailblazers give voters the power to take back their rightful role in the democratic republic by moving politics out of the back room, onto the front porch.

“My campaign is all about fostering a robust democracy here in Utica, NY. I’m proud that the Trailblazers PAC endorsement recognizes the support I’ve earned from voters who share my commitment to open and clean government, and my plan to empower citizens by putting them front and center,” said Celeste Friend, candidate for Utica Common Council Ward 3.

To earn Trailblazers PAC’s endorsement, candidates for county or municipal level office must disclose every penny in and out of their campaign, make themselves accountable to their own voters by raising funds from households within their district instead of just from special interests, and stand up for honest government through Election Day and beyond.

“Trailblazers PAC is proud to stand with Celeste Friend, because by deciding to follow a higher standard than the current law, she’s making voters the loudest voices in the room, ” said Leslie Danks Burke, founder and president of Trailblazers PAC. “When a Trailblazer takes real action for clean government during her campaign, voters know she’s accountable to continue this in elected office, too.”

Now in its third year, Trailblazers PAC has invested in successful candidates of many different political parties, in one community after another. Trailblazers PAC also offers popular “Front Porch Politics” workshops that have educated thousands of candidates, supporters, and interested citizens on local-level political involvement in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and elsewhere, and is mentoring municipal-level candidates in New York, Colorado, Indiana, Texas, and other states.
