(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.) – Trailblazers PAC, the nonpartisan organization supporting local-level candidates across New York State who stand for clean government, announced its endorsement of Lori Wahila for the Town of Union Council.
With a mission of “Front Porch Politics,” Trailblazers PAC aims to move politics out of the back room. Trailblazers PAC invests in candidates of any political party (even if they are running against each other) if they choose to follow higher campaign finance standards than law currently requires.
“I am very proud to be endorsed by Trailblazers. I’ve worked hard these past few months to run an open and accessible grassroots campaign, powered by the people I hope to serve. And it means so much to have that hard work recognized by an organization fighting for open government like Trailblazers. I hope to live up to their ideals once elected, and make my town council a shining example of transparency and accountability in local government.” said Wahila.
Trailblazers PAC has a track record of successfully investing in candidates since March 2017, and puts on popular “Front Porch Politics” workshops across New York and Pennsylvania. The group has held 18 workshops for candidates, supporters, and interested citizens in far-flung locations over the past two years.
“Lori is a Trailblazer because she has been engaging with her community throughout her campaign, and because she chooses to do better than New York requires by disclosing 100% of her campaign finances. If elected, Lori will be a voice for accountability and clean government on the Town of Union Council.” said Leslie Danks Burke, founder and president of Trailblazers PAC.
To earn Trailblazers PAC’s endorsement, candidates must be: running for county or municipal level office; 100% transparent in disclosing their campaign finances (far beyond law requirements); funded in part by contributions from actual voters in the district or municipality they want to represent (rather than solely by outside or special interests); and committed to continuing action for clean government once elected.
